1200W DC-DC Step-Up Converter – High-Efficiency Voltage Boosting Without Compromise

Do you have a 12V or 24V power source but need to step it up to 48V, 60V, or higher? Without the right DC-DC step-up converter, you risk losing energy through heat or stalling your project entirely. This 1200W, 20A module is the perfect solution, offering stable power conversion, up to 95% efficiency, and a continuously adjustable output voltage between 12V and 80V without the need for additional hardware.

Note: The maximum power rating of 1200W is achieved at 60V × 20A output. At lower voltages, the available power is calculated as: output voltage × current (e.g., 24V × 20A = 480W). For continuous operation above 600W, we recommend adding active cooling.

Why choose this model? (Key Advantages):

  • Up to 95% Efficiency — Out of every 100W consumed, 95W reaches your load. This means less heat waste and longer runtime for battery-powered or solar systems.
  • Adjustable Output Voltage (12V–80V) — A versatile module that covers dozens of different applications without needing replacements or extra adapters.
  • 20A Maximum Input/Output Current — Easily handles motors, battery chargers, and inverters without breaking a sweat.
  • Automatic Current Limiting (0.5A to 20A) — Protect your batteries or sensitive loads without needing external relays or additional circuits.
  • Anti-Backflow Protection — Built-in protection eliminates the need for an external diode, simplifying your setup and reducing costs.
  • 150KHz Switching Frequency — Minimises output ripple, ensuring stable voltage even when the load fluctuates suddenly.
  • Wide Operating Temperature (–40°C to +85°C) — Reliable performance in freezing winter temperatures or hot summer conditions near solar panels.

Performance and Technical Details

The boost converter topology, operating at a 150KHz switching frequency, maintains a rock-solid output voltage regardless of fluctuations in your power source or load. With a quiescent current of just 15mA at 12V, the module won’t drain your battery while in standby. Integrated protections—including a 20A input fuse, automatic current limiting, and anti-backflow circuitry—safeguard both the module and your connected equipment. Please note: This module does not include reverse polarity protection; we recommend adding a Schottky diode at the input if there is a risk of incorrect wiring.

Programming and Usage Instructions

  1. Connect your power source to the input terminals (Vin+ and Vin–), ensuring correct polarity. The input voltage must be between 8V and 60V DC.
  2. Before connecting your load, adjust the desired output voltage by turning the voltage potentiometer while measuring the output with a multimeter at the Vout+ and Vout– terminals.
  3. Set the current limit using the dedicated potentiometer, starting from the minimum value (0.5A) and gradually increasing to the required level, up to a maximum of 20A.
  4. Connect your load only after the output voltage has been correctly set to avoid overvoltage damage to your equipment.
  5. Monitor temperature during high-load operation. For continuous loads exceeding 600W, add an active cooling fan to ensure long-term reliability.
  6. Check the 20A input fuse periodically and replace it if it has blown due to a short circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this converter to charge a 48V battery from a 12V solar panel?

Yes. Set the output voltage to the required charging voltage (e.g., 54.6V for a 48V Li-Ion battery) and limit the current according to your battery’s specifications. Ensure your solar panel provides sufficient current at the input voltage to meet your power requirements.

Is extra cooling required for full-power operation?

Yes. For continuous loads above 600–700W, we recommend adding an active fan. The integrated heatsink is not sufficient for high loads in high ambient temperatures—active cooling will significantly extend the module’s lifespan.

Can I connect multiple modules in parallel for more power?

This is not recommended without specific modifications. Minor voltage differences between modules can cause current imbalances. For higher power requirements, choose a single higher-capacity module or use a dedicated controller designed for parallel operation.

What happens if the input voltage is equal to the desired output voltage?

The module will not function correctly. This is a dedicated step-up (boost) converter; the output voltage must always be higher than the input voltage. For equal or lower voltages, you would need a buck or buck-boost converter.

What happens if I connect the terminals with reverse polarity?

The module does not have internal reverse polarity protection and may be permanently damaged. If there is any risk of incorrect connection, please add a Schottky diode or a protection MOSFET at the input.
