Water Electrolysis Tester: See exactly what’s in your water

Unsure if your tap or well water is truly safe? With this water electrolysis tester, you can find out in under 30 seconds—no laboratory, no chemical reagents, and no technical expertise required. Simply insert the electrodes, press a button, and watch as the water reveals its hidden contents. A visible change in colour will highlight the presence of heavy metals, iron, bacteria, or pesticides.

Note: This device is a visual indicator tool intended for home and educational use. It does not replace accredited laboratory testing and does not remove impurities from the water.

Why choose this model? (Key Benefits):

  • Results in 10–30 seconds — Colour changes appear instantly without the need for waiting or chemical reagents.
  • Test two sources simultaneously — The two pairs of electrodes allow you to compare tap water against bottled or well water side-by-side.
  • Multi-contaminant detection — Visually identifies heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, pesticides, iron, arsenic, fluoride, and organic or inorganic impurities.
  • 3A Internal Safety Fuse — Built-in overload protection to prevent damage during normal operation.
  • No technical skills needed — Simple ON/OFF operation, perfect for families, schools, or anyone curious about their water quality.

Performance and Technical Details

The principle is simple and effective: the electric current applied through the anode and cathode triggers water electrolysis, causing dissolved contaminants to precipitate or change colour. Each type of pollutant produces a distinct, easily recognisable hue. While this process is not quantitative, it provides a clear and rapid visual indication of water quality.

The electrodes are calibrated for water with standard conductivity. We do not recommend using this device in saltwater or water with high electrical conductivity. While the internal 3A maximum fuse protects the device, high-conductivity water may strain these limits.

Observed Colour Indicated Contaminant
Black Heavy metals
Yellow Dissolved acids, fluoride, organic matter
Green Arsenic, mercury, lead, sodium
Blue Bacteria, viruses, pesticides, carcinogens
Red Iron, rust, bacteria
White Lead, zinc, inorganic dirt

How to Use

  1. Prepare two transparent glasses with equal amounts of water: one with purified water (as a reference) and one with the water you wish to test.
  2. Place two electrodes into each glass—one anode and one cathode—ensuring they do not touch each other.
  3. Connect the device to a power outlet and switch it on using the ON/OFF button.
  4. Allow the device to run for 10–30 seconds while observing the colour change in the water.
  5. Switch off the device, unplug it from the power source, and then remove the electrodes from the water.
  6. Compare the colours in the two glasses using the interpretation table above.
  7. Warning: Do not use the device in saltwater or water with high conductivity. The internal fuse is rated for a maximum of 3A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the electrolysis tester remove impurities from the water?

No. This device is for visual quality testing only; it does not purify the water. To remove contaminants, you will need a dedicated water filtration or purification system.

Can I test tap water and bottled water at the same time?

Yes. The two included pairs of electrodes allow you to test two different sources simultaneously and compare the results directly.

Is it safe for home use?

Yes, provided you follow the instructions. Avoid using it in saltwater or high-conductivity water, and always disconnect the device from the power outlet before removing the electrodes from the water.

Are the electrodes reusable?

Yes. Simply rinse and dry them after each use to significantly extend their lifespan.

How long does a full test take?

Between 10 and 30 seconds. Switch off the device as soon as the colour change becomes visible.
