Mini 5V/12V DC UPS Module – Uninterruptible power for IoT projects and critical equipment

Ever had your Raspberry Pi or router reset at the worst possible moment? A micro DC UPS is the perfect solution. This Mini UPS module ensures instant switching to battery power—zero delay, zero resets—whether you are powering a mini-PC, an ESP32, or a 12V IP camera.

Note: 18650 batteries are not included. Please use a 5V power supply with at least 2A. Do not connect the battery with reversed polarity, as this will cause irreversible damage.

Why choose this model? (Key Benefits):

  • Zero-delay switching — The transition to battery power is instantaneous, ensuring your equipment never detects a power dip or triggers a reset.
  • Two versions available — 5V/3A for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, and IoT modules; 12V/1.2A for routers, IP cameras, and industrial controllers.
  • Supports 1 or 2 parallel 18650 batteries — Using two cells effectively doubles your battery runtime.
  • Type-C input up to 3A — Provides higher current than MicroUSB, allowing for faster charging and stable operation under heavy loads.
  • Up to 96% boost efficiency — 15W nominal power with 20W peak, designed for minimal energy loss.
  • Comprehensive Li-Ion protection — Built-in protection against over-discharge, over-charge, short-circuits, and thermal overload.
  • Solder pads for 5V+/5V- — Allows for direct integration onto custom PCBs without the need for external connectors.
  • Compact design: 88 × 41 × 22 mm — Easily fits into project enclosures, DIN rails, or DIY racks.

Performance and Details

This module acts as a seamless DC UPS: while an external power source is connected, it powers your device and simultaneously charges the battery to 4.2V, the standard voltage for 18650 Li-Ion cells. If the input power fails, the switch to battery power occurs without any perceptible pause, keeping your equipment running smoothly.

The 5V/3A version is optimised for Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Arduino, and 5V IoT modules. The 12V/1.2A version is ideal for routers, IP cameras, and controllers requiring a steady 12V supply. Both versions support input via a Type-C connector or directly via solder pads for maximum integration flexibility.

Caution: The module may generate heat when operating near maximum power loads; please ensure adequate ventilation within your enclosure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which version should I choose: 5V or 12V?

If you are powering a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, or any IoT module, choose the 5V/3A version. If your equipment is a router, IP camera, or industrial controller, choose the 12V/1.2A version.

How many 18650 batteries do I need?

The module works with 1 or 2 18650 cells in parallel. Using two cells will approximately double your battery runtime. Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.

Will my equipment reset during a power cut?

No. The switching is zero-delay, meaning the transition between the external power source and the battery is instantaneous, with no interruption detected by the connected device.

What power supply is required?

A 5V power supply with at least 2A connected via Type-C is required. If you are using 2 batteries and charging while under a heavy load, we recommend a 5V/3A power supply.

Can I integrate the module directly onto a custom PCB?

Yes. In addition to the Type-C port, the module features 5V+ and 5V- solder pads for direct integration into your own circuits, eliminating the need for external connectors.
