3S 60A BMS Module – Complete Protection and Balancing for 14.8V Li-Ion 18650 Battery Packs

Unprotected batteries degrade rapidly. Without active management, a Li-Ion pack can lose 30–40% of its capacity after just a few months of heavy use. This 3S 60A BMS module solves this by monitoring each cell individually, intervening automatically during any voltage deviation, and keeping your pack perfectly balanced through every charge cycle.

Note: 18650 cells are not included. Please verify the nominal voltage of your pack before installation. The 70A rating refers to peak current; the recommended maximum continuous discharge current is 60A.

Why choose this model? (Key Advantages):

  • 60A Continuous / 70A Peak — Handles high-draw motors without voltage drops or unexpected cut-offs, ideal for DIY industrial applications.
  • 100mA Passive Cell Balancing — Compensates for capacity differences between cells during charging, preventing the chronic imbalance that shortens battery life.
  • Triple Automatic Protection — Safeguards against overcharging (4.2V ±0.03V), over-discharging (3.2V ±0.1V), and short circuits without manual intervention.
  • 10 Power MOSFETs — Features low internal resistance and superior heat dissipation compared to 6-MOSFET modules, ensuring rapid fault switching.
  • Ultra-Slim 3.4mm Profile — Designed to fit into tight spaces in power drills, drones, or RC vehicles where standard modules won’t fit.
  • Common Port (B- / P- / C-) — Allows for simultaneous connection of the charger and load without the need for complex separate wiring.

Performance and Technical Details

The circuit is built around 10 power MOSFET transistors arranged symmetrically to reduce total internal resistance and minimise energy loss under load. The protection thresholds are factory-calibrated for standard Li-Ion chemistry: 4.2V for overcharge and 3.2V for over-discharge—ensuring your cells are protected without sacrificing usable capacity.

The passive balancing system operates during the charging phase, dissipating excess energy from higher-voltage cells through dedicated resistors. The module supports a maximum charging current of 15A, making it compatible with professional 3S chargers. While the module runs cool at discharge currents between 20–30A, we recommend adequate ventilation if you are operating near the 60A limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this compatible with any 18650 battery capacity?

Yes. This 3S 60A BMS is compatible with any 18650 Li-Ion cells regardless of their mAh capacity. For best results, we recommend using cells of the same make and capacity to ensure the balancing process remains efficient.

What happens in the event of a short circuit?

The module detects a short circuit in milliseconds and automatically cuts off the discharge path via the MOSFETs to protect your battery and connected device. It resets automatically once the faulty load is removed—no manual reset required.

What charger voltage do I need?

For a 3S Li-Ion pack, your charger must provide exactly 12.6V, which is the full-charge voltage for three cells in series. Always use a dedicated 3S charger with current limiting to prevent cell damage.

Do I need a heatsink for high currents?

The module operates fine without extra cooling at 20–30A. If you are running near the 60A continuous limit for extended periods, we recommend attaching a small heatsink to the MOSFETs or ensuring active airflow to prolong the lifespan of the components.
